SES Redcliffe headed into the Bridge FM radio station today to join Travis Groves on the Moreton Bay Today show. Snr Field Ops Member Brett Brownlow shared valuable tips about preparing for storm season which has just arrived. Our Group Leader Derek Brown also joined the chat. We hope you enjoyed the show and can now action what was recommended to do at your place of residence.

Tune in at 10AM this Monday morning (the 12th) to our local Bridge FM station for the 'Moreton Bay Today' show.

Our very own Brett Brownlow of Redcliffe SES (pictured below left next to Derek Brown our Group Leader) will be on the air to talk all things 'disaster'!!! This is a great opportunity to refresh listeners of the do's and don'ts during storm and emergency situations. Not only that but you'll hear what jobs we can't do.

It's as though today's rain arrived on cue! Just in time for 'Get Ready Queensland Week' and our display at Bunnings Warehouse Rothwell this morning.

Some of our Redcliffe SES members were on hand to educate and remind shoppers to prepare their properties as we head into storm season.

Are you ready? If you haven't already done so, check your gutters and drains are clear, remove excess leaves and debris, prepare an emergency grab bag and have a plan. Don't forget to check on your neighbours also.

Sometimes even we need a little help...

This Saturday, 10th October, Redcliffe SES will be serving the sausages at Rothwell Bunnings Warehouse. Every banger sold goes towards funding resources we need to help make our job a little more effective and easier. See you there!

While we are both State and Local Government funded, most public aren't aware that grants and fundraising provide extra provisions.

Having the right equipment can make a real difference when we are called. It's also about making sure we have what we need to stay safe while protecting others.

This is great news! Yesterday Redcliffe SES responded immediately to a QPS request to find two young hikers lost in dense bush near Mt Glorious 85km away. Within one hour of very difficult walking they were located. Usually our missing person searches don't end like this despite multiple days of searching so well done team!

"We had two people mapping but the rest of us needed to conserve battery. It was such a fab one! My first one of its kind too and proper fast! I can't believe how quickly we did it. It was a fab team to be with." Teresa, Redcliffe SES (pictured below).

Our SES members are local unpaid volunteers which not everybody realises.

Today police, family, and friends across Redcliffe Peninsula have paused to reflect on the lives of police officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice whilst protecting their community.

National Police Remembrance Day has been observed annually on 29 September since 1989, and honours police officers from across Australia and the South Pacific who have died in the line of duty.

With honour they served.

As SES sits within the QPS system our Redcliffe members were able to stand shoulder to shoulder with our counterparts in remembrance. Many other support agencies were present including the Assistance Dogs Australia organisation... we couldn't resist!

This Tuesday the 29th of September marks Police Remembrance Day. Redcliffe SES members will be standing shoulder to shoulder with our police counterparts as we remember police officers who have passed. This is our second year of the SES sitting within the QPS structure having transitioned from QFS in 2024. The service will be held in Deception Bay.

Meet our latest group of SES qualified drone pilots for Morton Bay and Brisbane City including Redcliffe Peninsula.

Drones are another integral system we use to compliment the varied work the SES carry out here on the peninsula and throughout Australia. Having extra eyes above during missing person land searches for example or being able to quickly assess storm damage to your roof adds another whole level.

Our drone pilots (RPAS) have the opportunity to continue advanced training in order to fly large drones with payload capabilities, thermal and infrared cameras along with night flying clearance. They are also certified to operate an aeronautical radio for communications to control towers and air traffic if needed.
