The cadets were divided into two teams of six, with one team positioned at Kingsgrove Railway Station and the other at Hurstville Railway Station. The friendly competition between the two teams commenced at 0600 hrs and continued until 0930 hrs.
As this was the first time many of the cadets had participated in a fundraising activity, they initially found it challenging to approach members of the public and confidently engage with them. However, as the morning progressed, their confidence grew considerably, and they became much more comfortable interacting with the public and promoting the Legacy cause.
At the conclusion of the station activity, both teams moved to Rockdale Plaza, where the friendly competition continued and the cadets continued their fundraising efforts.
Once the activity was completed and the cadets were released to their parents, the final tallies were calculated. The Kingsgrove team raised approximately $900+, while the Hurstville team raised approximately $1,600+, giving 233 ACU a combined fundraising total of more than $2,500 for Legacy House.
This was an outstanding effort by all twelve cadets. They demonstrated determination, teamwork and, most importantly, the confidence to step outside their comfort zones and support a worthwhile community cause. A Thank you to the staff for carrying all the saleable items and allowing us to participate.
Well done to all involved. A fantastic effort by our newly graduated cadets!
