Not quite nautical. We have a pair of Plovers nesting in front of our boatshed.
Last weekend I put witches hats out so we didn't accidently run over them with the truck and boat trailer.
Today they have 4 eggs.

We recently had a training run on the Fitzroy River. Visibility downstream from Thompsons Point was nearly none.
The fog lifted into a bright, calm, clear day.
This trip was from Thompsons Point, out of the Fitzroy via South Channel, down The Narrows to near Telegraph Creek, short stop in Pacific Creek.
Then out to Timandra Bouy, follow the navigation aids down to Port Alma, then back to Thompsons Point via Casuarina Creek.
This is all in our operational area.

International Day for Women in Maritime 18 May 2026
On this day, Coast Guard Central Queensland would like to recognise the valued service that our volunteer women provide to enhance the safety of our boating community. Women currently make up 27% of our volunteers and are engaged in a multitude of roles both on and off the water. Come for a visit if this sounds like something you would like to be involved in.

Saturday 2 May - QF19 conducted a training exercise above the barrage to test their newly acquired Hoverark HX3 remote control rescue buoy.

This new acquisition to the flotilla will provide a means to access boats or people who are stranded in very shallow water, without risking the rescue vessel running aground. There have been occasions in the past where the crew has had to wait for the tide to rise sufficiently before the rescue could be affected.

This device adds yet another level of safety for the local boating community.
