🎓The Countdown is On for Our Year 12s!

This week marks a very special milestone for our Year 12 students as they celebrate their final week of school classes.

After years of learning, friendship, challenges and unforgettable memories, our Class of 2026 is preparing to close one chapter and begin an exciting new adventure.

To make their final week extra memorable, our Years 12s will be celebrating with a different theme each day.

Yesterday, the celebrations kicked off with Crazy Hair Day, and our seniors certainly brought plenty of creativity and personality to the occasion.

We can't wait to see what the rest of the week brings as we celebrate this incredible group of students and their final days at Rocky High.

🩷Rocky High goes Pink 🩷

Last Friday, Rockhampton State High School joined schools across Rocky for the Pink Gate Challenge.

This fun and creative competition brought our school communities together for an important cause - raising awareness of breast cancer, honouring those fighting the disease, celebrating survivors, and recognising families and carers impacted by it.

The challenge also marked a special milestone for our Yr 12 Student Representative Council (SRC), as their final project before handing over the reins to our 2027 student leaders.

A big thank you to all our SRC and supporting staff for bringing this together.

Week 1 of Volleyball is done, and the results are in!

Rocky High has hit the court running, recording the most wins across the competition in the opening round.

A fantastic start from our teams, with plenty of teamwork and school spirit on display.

Congratulations to all our players on a strong opening week. Let's keep the momentum going into Week 2!

🏉Legends of League visit to Rocky High 🏉

We were excited to welcome the Legends of League to Rockhampton State High School this week.

Drawing on their experiences both on and off the field, the Legends spoke about the importance of making positive choices, believing in yourself and staying focused on your goals.

A big thank you to the Legends of Rugby League for taking the time to connect with our students and inspire the next generation.

🖌Celebrating Creative Excellence

Congratulations to Year 12 Visual Art Student who recently showcased her artwork at the Central Queensland Regional Exhibition as part of the Creative Generation Awards for Excellence in Visual Art and Design.

The digital animation, Running Thoughts, explores the stream of thoughts that occur as we drift off to sleep, where memories, emotions and imagination begin to blend.

Guided by the inquiry question, "How can I capture nostalgia through imagery and the recreation of memory", she used fragmented and shifting imagery to reflect how memories fade, blur and change over time.

A special thank you to Peta McAllister and everyone involved in bringing the Central Queensland exhibition to life.

Our young authors in the making! ✍

Today, we were excited to welcome author Josh Donellan to Rocky State High for a creative writing workshop as part of our Little Scribe partnership.

Joining our students were budding young writers from our feeder primary schools, all eager to explore the magic of storytelling.

With Josh's guidance, students discovered how to bring their ideas to life, developing interesting characters, imaginative settings and their very own unique stories.

The best part? These aspiring writers are working towards becoming published authors!

A big thank you to Josh for inspiring our young storytellers and helping them take the first steps towards seeing their own words in print.
