📢 Moreton Bay's platypus population is thriving, with a new project detecting the mammal at a record 91 sites - including eight new locations.

🙏 This year’s environmental DNA (eDNA) sampling again found platypus in the Caboolture River, North Pine River, South Pine River, Stanley River and Mary River water catchments.

💖 There are now 50 sites which have tested positive for platypuses via eDNA over three consecutive years.

Results from the project can be found on Council's website.

📌 Does anyone know the official plural form of platypus? "Platypuses" is an acceptable form but is not, strictly speaking, the correct word.

⚠️ HEAVY RAIN — PLEASE STAY SAFE ⛈️
Residents across Moreton Bay are urged to take care during periods of heavy rainfall. Conditions can change rapidly, and roads, creeks and low-lying areas can become dangerous with little warning.

🚗 IF IT’S FLOODED, FORGET IT! Never drive, walk or ride through floodwater. Turn around and find another route.

📱 Stay informed and check these official resources regularly:

🌧️ Bureau of Meteorology — rainfall and river-height data

🏫 School Closures
https://closures.qld.edu.au/schools.html

🚧 City of Moreton Bay — weather-impacted roads and closures

Please be aware that Council’s road closure information may take time to catch up during periods of rapidly changing conditions. An unlisted road closure does not mean a road is safe.

🆘 Moreton Bay Disaster Dashboard

Check for emergency warnings, road closures and other local disaster information. For state-controlled roads, also check QLD Traffic: https://qldtraffic.qld.gov.au/

💜 Every woman deserves to feel safe and have access to support when she needs it most.

Frontline domestic and family violence services provide vital, often life-saving support to women and families experiencing violence.

But these services are already struggling to meet demand.

Fair Agenda has launched a petition calling on the Crisafulli Government to reverse recent funding reductions and increase resources for frontline domestic and family violence services.

No woman seeking help should be left without the specialist support she needs, when and where she needs it.

✍️ Add your name to the petition and help make women's safety a priority.

BREAKING: David Crisafulli has admitted major crises - health, affordability, housing and crime - are raging under his LNP government.

Queenslanders are paying the price after two years of David Crisafulli and the LNP government.

Housing remains out of reach, the affordability crisis is biting, people are dying as our health system buckles under pressure and Queenslanders do not feel safe.

While they spin, Queenslanders suffer.
