Dinner and a show was mid week outing for shed members and partners. The evening commenced with a fine selection from the menu for dinner at the Ferntree Gully Royal Hotel. This was followed by a pause on our way to 1812 Theatre at the popular ‘ice-creamery’ - Augustus Gelatery for a treat of the vast selection of gelato (not your standard ice cream). The 1812 theatre production was ‘The Ladykillers’. It’s a black comedy that follows the hilarious capers of a group of small-time crooks, taking on more than they can handle in the form of sweet elderly landlady, Mrs Wilberforce.

Wives and Partners Brunch
It’s the week before Mother’s Day, when the shedders host our annual wives and partners with a brunch in recognition and gratitude for our partners contributions, and acknowledging their efforts in our relationship.
The shedders cooking and waiting skills were on display with fare like sausage rolls, veggie rolls, scones, quiche, even mini quiches in a cupcake and vanilla cupcakes with icing and sprinkles. There was a grand assortment of sandwiches also crispy chicken wings baked in a sweet sticky sauce. That and more was followed by refreshing fruit platters with a selection of cheeses, included of course was a selection of beverages to accompany the meal. It was lovely to see our partners engaging with each other in stimulating conversation. Special invited guests were the wives of shed members who passed last year, Helen Treadwell , Barbara Lemarchand and Toni Coats. We hope everyone had a ‘tasty experience’ and a pleasant day, engaging in a convivial conversation in a friendly social environment.

Protect your vehicle 🚗 There is currently an increase in number plate thefts across Victoria. Not only can they be expensive to replace, but stolen plates are often used to commit other crimes.
Here are some simple ways to help protect your vehicle:
Victoria Police run the SafePL8 initiative, providing guidance on the one-way anti-theft screws you can fit to your car. These can be fitted with a standard screwdriver but can’t be removed without a special tool, making it much harder for thieves to steal your plates.
✔️ Upgrade your screws
Swap standard screws for anti-theft screws or pop rivets
✔️ Where can I get the screws
Anti-theft screws are available from hardware stores, automotive shops and petrol stations
✔️ Park smart
Choose well-lit, visible areas whenever possible
