King George Park upgrade
King George Park is one of the Inner West’s most popular sporting grounds used throughout the year by thousands of locals taking part in organised soccer, rugby league or little athletics. It is loved by the broader community for recreational use as part of the Bay Run.

The program for the new synthetic field at the Crescent in Annandale per City of Sydney is:
Current Program Dates: ( Could change )
(a) Approval of Concept Design - October 2021
(b) Complete Design and Costing - Mid 2022
(c) Tender Preparation - mid 2022
(d) Construction Start - late 2022
(e) Construction and Site Handover - mid 2023
The proposal includes the following works:
(a) new raised compact (61m x 38m) sized multipurpose synthetic sportsfield to accommodate a range of different sports such as hockey 5s, futsal, 5-a-side soccer, senior hockey practice and other community training and junior matches including wet weather practise when Jubilee Oval is closed;
(b) new sportsfield lighting;
(c) new park lighting;
(d) new sportsfield fencing;
(e) modified ground levels to improve overland flow paths and prevent damage to
the new synthetic playing surface;
(f) new legible entry points and accessible circulation paths connecting from the
surrounding streets, through to the sportsfield;
(g) new Chapman road turn-a-round with service vehicle access into the park and
sportsfield;
(h) new spectator seating;
(i) new drinking bubblers;
(j) new trees and planting; and
(k) an open lawn area for passive recreation.

The focus of this upgrade is on:
Upgrading the sporting ground including regrading, new sub surface drainage, new irrigation heads and new turf
Upgrading the sports lighting to meet current standards
Upgrading the carpark
Developing a new sports equipment storage facility
Refurbishing the long jump pit

The Bays West Stage 1 draft Master Plan is on exhibition for public comment until Tuesday 31 May 2022. The draft master plan will inform development and planning controls for the area around the White Bay Power Station and the future Bays Metro station.
"Bays West Stage 1 builds on the vision of the Bays West Place Strategy and reflects community feedback from the public exhibition of the place strategy in 2021. It includes the draft master plan and Urban Design Framework for the White Bay Power Station (and Metro) sub-precinct and the Robert Street sub-precinct."

Plagued inner west light rail line to run limited services early next year with CBD trams
Some Sydney commuters will be able to ditch replacement buses early next year when services resume on the inner west line which has been sitting empty due to cracked trams.

Last month, approval was granted by the City of Sydney Council for the new proposed hockey field adjacent to the Crescent in Annandale. ( Next to the new skatepark ).
