A big congratulations to Cr Garry Stephens, who was recognised last night by the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) with a 10-Year Victorian Councillor Service Award.

While Cr Stephens was unable to attend the presentation, fellow Councillor and MAV delegate Cr Scott Rossetti was honoured to accept the award on his behalf.

The award recognises councillors who have made an outstanding contribution to their communities through long and dedicated public service, and few embody that commitment more than Garry.

His local government career began long before Wellington Shire Council was formed, serving as CEO of the former Alberton Shire. In fact, Garry's first job was in local government, spending six years with Mordialloc Council in Mentone before making the move to Gippsland and Yarram.

Garry's decades of service to local government and the community are a remarkable achievement and one that deserves to be celebrated.

Congratulations, Cr Stephens, on this well-deserved recognition!
