The Construction Training Centre

We are thrilled to share some moments from the grand opening of the Bob Marshman Building at our Construction Training Centre! 🎉 This new facility is not just a building; it's a beacon of innovation in the building and construction industry, showcasing our commitment to sustainability and climate resilience.
This building exemplifies sustainable design and has achieved Passive House certification. It features energy-saving solar panels, EV chargers, and rainwater systems, promoting both worker wellbeing and environmental responsibility.
The Bob Marshman Building prioritizes low carbon materials, superior air quality, and pandemic safety, using low VOC materials and high-quality windows. It maintains airtightness and includes heat recovery ventilation systems, eliminating thermal bridges for maximum energy conservation. The Bob Marshman Building will be officially carbon zero in October of this year (2024).

CTC and the broader building and construction industry of Queensland were saddened with the news over the weekend that Hugh Hamilton AM had passed away.
Hugh was instrumental in the establishment of CTC and was its first Centre Manager and then later a Director. He was a key figure in the industrial movement in Queensland and was a significant force behind the establishment of BUSSQ (the industry super fund for Queensland building and construction workers). Hughie was an activist until the end and led a full life by any comparison.
We’ll remember him for his wit, wisdom, and undying spirit.

Leaving work before the long weekend like 👆🏎️ We'll be closed over the next four days, so have an egg-cellent Easter, and we'll see you all on Tuesday when we can nurse our collective chocolate hangovers together 🐰🍫

It's a Monday morning. You're running late. You've missed a button and spilt coffee on the passenger seat. But at least you're not at work today - instead, you're offsite completing a first aid course. Surely it won't matter if you're ten minutes late! Except, you've arrived at the course and there's NO PARKING. Not one. All taken by those insufferable people who get there on time. Do you:
a) Call it a day and go home
b) Have a small cry and then hike twelve kilometres from the park you eventually find to the training course
c) Book your training at CTC next time because we have 150+ FREE parks and that will never be an issue

Nothing to see here. Just an ordinary trainer preparing for their class. Child labour laws, look away 🤪👩‍🏫 Just KIDDING; we've got the most qualified in the biz here! World-class facilities 🤝 high-quality training = everything you need!

At CTC we play a version of 'Where's Wally?' called 'Where's Kev?'. Kev is our Facility Supervisor and can usually be spotted zooming around Precinct fixing problems - as you can see here if you look closely 👋 👀 While Denis is away on annual leave, Kev has been 👏killing 👏 it 👏, managing the site like a total pro 👑 Where would we be without him?! 🙌

With the cozzie livs (cost of living crisis for those not chronically online) ever increasing, we're seeing a coinciding increase in homelessness. Over the last few years at CTC, we've offered basic hygiene products in our bathrooms for anyone who might be doing it tough. For us, it's important that we "walk the talk" when it comes to values and actions - and it doesn't cost much to be a decent person or business! Let's normalise helping out where you can 🧼🤝 Homelessness doesn't come in just one shape or size; you never know what someone else might be going through despite their front.
