Oakvale Wildlife Park Where stories run wild. Wildlife and water fun, all in one park — Port Stephens, NSW. Welcome to Oakvale Wildlife Park – where every day is a wild adventure!
(2714)

Nestled in the heart of nature, we're an Australian family-owned sanctuary since 1979. Immerse yourself in 25 acres of diverse wildlife, from playful kangaroos to cheeky goats. Our commitment to hands-on experiences, captivating Keeper Talks, and thrilling adventures sets us apart. With up to 70% of our animals you can have a form of interaction with, it is the ultimate hands-on animal experience. At the park, you will find an endless menagerie of Australian native and domestic farm animals such as ducklings, rabbits, goats, sheep, cattle and horses, koalas, kangaroos, wombats, emus, dingos and a myriad of birds as small as a quarrion and as large as an ostrich. Plus many, many more. We aim to ensure a fun, safe, educational and value-for-money experience for the whole family whilst keeping things as hands-on as possible. 🎉 Happy 47th birthday, Oakvale! 🦘

On 1 November 1979, Jeff and Elaine Sansom opened our gates for the very first time. What began as a working dairy farm welcoming a few local school groups has grown into 25 acres of conservation, education and family days out where stories run wild.

Two generations of the Sansom family later, our mission is the same: getting you up close to the magic of our wildlife.

Whether you first visited in the 80s, the 90s or just last week, thank you for being part of the Oakvale family. We couldn’t do it without you. 💛

Share your favourite Oakvale memory in the comments below. We’d love to take a trip down memory lane with you! 👇

🐒 World Lemur Day is tomorrow, and there’s no better way to celebrate than meeting a ring-tailed lemur in person!

Get up close with one of our lemurs and learn what makes these stripy-tailed characters so special. We only run 2 encounters a day, so book in for tomorrow and get in quick! https://ap1.hubs.ly/H01s5QV0 💛

🦅 Meet Tweety, our wedge-tailed eagle.

Tweety came to us after being rescued when injured, and now calls Oakvale home. With a wingspan that can stretch over 2 metres, wedge-tailed eagles are Australia’s largest bird of prey, and Tweety has presence to match. 👀

🐂 Meet Lenny, our Texas Longhorn. There’s something missing from his smile, and he’ll tell you all about it (well, Ebonie will).

Lenny has one rule: if there’s food, he’s there. 😄 Grab a bag of feed, join a Farm Encounter and you’ll be his new best mate. Photo included!

Grandparents have a way of making a day out feel extra special, whether it’s holding a python for the first time, feeding a kangaroo or sneaking the kids an extra treat from the café. 😉
