⛔️ BUILDING FIRE – GRANTHAM FARM ⛔️

Schofields Rural Fire Brigade were 1st on scene this morning at a structure fire at the intersection of Junction and Windsor Rds this morning. They quickly started fire fighting operations and took control of the incident.

With the support of multiple fire appliances from NSW Rural Fire Service and including Fire and Rescue NSW Station 83 Riverstone, firefighters are working to bring the blaze under control.

⚠️ As this is a busy intersection residents are asked to please follow the directions of emergency services and be mindful the crews on scene.

A total fire ban means no fires out in the open.

A total fire ban helps limit the potential of fires developing.

If a fire starts, take immediate action.

If you and your property are not prepared to the highest level, go to a safer location well before the fire impacts.

Review your bush fire survival plan with your family. Keep yourself informed and monitor conditions. Be ready to act if necessary.

Protect Your Number Plates and Get Bush Fire Ready

The Schofields Rural Fire Brigade will be joining Riverstone Police Area Command for a free Anti-Theft Screw Fitting Session to help local residents protect their vehicle number plates from theft.

🕙 10:00am to 12:00pm
📍 Woolworths Schofields Car Park

Our volunteers will be on hand to assist with the fitting of anti-theft screws and to chat about simple steps you can take to prepare your household for the current bush fire season.

Whether you're stopping by to secure your number plates or looking for practical bush fire preparedness advice, we'd love to see you there.

Being ready for the bushfire season doesnt just apply at home, If you’re travelling during the bush fire season, you could be affected by a fire. Bush and grass fires can impact roads and highways without warning. Smoke can reduce visibility, and roads may also be closed. Even after rain, it can take just a few days of hot, dry and windy weather for fire conditions to return.

Before and during your journey:

• Check the fire danger ratings for the areas you are travelling through.

• Ensure you have downloaded the Hazards Near Me NSW and Emergency+ apps. Stay up to date with current warnings and set up watch zones through the NSW RFS website or the Hazards Near Me NSW app.

• Have a Plan B in case you encounter road closures.

• Always carry extra water, a phone charger, and an emergency kit with your essential items.

• If conditions worsen, delay your travel or change your plans.

If you’re on the road and a fire starts nearby, NEVER drive into smoke or flames. Call 000 if you are in immediate danger.

Your safety always comes first.

When you need us, could a fire truck access your home in an emergency?

When bush fires occur, firefighters need safe and reliable access to your property.

Truck sizes can vary, but a good consideration is our Cat 1 tanker which can be up to 7.8 metres long, 2.5 metres wide, and require a turning circle of approximately 22 metres. Overgrown vegetation, narrow access tracks, low branches, soft ground, or locked gates can delay emergency response and place crews at risk.

Inspect your property access before fire season and ensure emergency vehicles can enter and exit safely. Good access helps firefighters protect your home, your family, and your community.

The NSW Rural Fire Service recommends property access tracks and driveways have:

• A minimum width of 3.5 metres.

• A vertical clearance of 4 metres from overhanging branches or structures.

• Adequate turning space for large fire appliances.

• All weather surfaces capable of supporting heavy vehicles.

• Clearly accessible gates and entrances.

Clear access can help emergency services reach your property quickly when it matters.
