Sometimes kindergarten is thought of as 'just play' and you know what, kindergarten is PLAY and we're so glad it is!

The amount of learning, neuro synapses created and retained information that occurs when children are enjoying themselves is immensely more than if children are not. We want learning to occur through play because then children learn more!
And what better way to have fun than to create learning that is reminiscent of the children's own experiences and fun?!

This week we created a small world play experience that represented 'family camping'. So many of our children and families went away camping recently so the children helped to create this experience.

Through engagement in play with this experience children are:

👄 Communicating with each other, learning new vocabulary and describing their own experiences and self identity.
🧑‍🧑‍🧒 Sharing aspects of themselves and their own traditions, wants and needs.
⚖️ Practising sharing and fair play, negotiating and problem solving.
⁉️ Asking questions and being curious about their world and the cultures and experiences of others.
🌳 Discussing sustainability concepts and how we can keep our environment, and the camping places we visit, clean, safe and happy for the animals.
🤲🏼 Being respectful of our kindergarten environment and resources and beginning to 'set up' our own learning experiences and take responsibility for those areas.

Hats off to our teachers and educators in recognition of World Teachers Day!

We treated our teachers and educators to morning teas over the week, coffee runs, funny personalised gifts, cards of gratitude and presents and kind words of appreciation from our families!

We love our teachers and educators and APPRECIATE everything, big and small, that they do each and every day to support our little people and their families.

If there's one thing we have learnt over our move, it's the people and community that make a kindergarten, not the building.

Thank you to all our families for helping us celebrate our amazing staff!

Seaford Kindergarten will be closed today, Tuesday 16th September 2025.

❓ WHY? Because today our teachers and educators are advocating for their rights, the rights of children and for better early childhood education...

- the right to be respected with equal pay to their primary teaching counterparts 💲

- their right to go to work each day and have adequate support so that they are not physically and emotionally injured 😞

- their right to educate, teach, care, nurture without excessive workloads that prevent them from doing so 💕

- their right to demand that the State Government value early childhood education and not treat it as an economic resource 👩🏻‍🏫

- their right to demand better when it comes to child safety ⛑️

- their right to demand that early childhood funding be given to support the educating and NOT just building infrastructure 🏫
