The Seymour Unit of the Victorian State Emergency Service has been around since 1977. The Victorian State Emergency Service is the control agency for Storms, Floods, Earthquakes and Tsunamis. It is also the largest volunteer Road Crash Rescue organisation in the world.

We’re at the Seymour Club this evening from 5:30- 7:30 raffling off a delicious meat tray and raising much-needed funds to support our volunteer unit!

Every ticket purchased helps us maintain our equipment, support our volunteers and continue serving the Seymour community and surrounding areas.

🚨 SES Seymour Unit is at the Seymour Show today! 🚨

Come down and say hello to the crew and check out Seymour Rescue 1, Seymour Support 1, Rescue Boat 590 and, of course, the ever-popular Mini Rescue! 🚒🚤

A magnitude 4.8 earthquake was recorded by Geoscience Australia at approximately 2:01 am this morning, with an epicentre near Leongatha.

At the time of posting, Geoscience Australia had received 2,626 felt reports and rising. If you require SES help please ring 132 500.

With the Great ShakeOut earthquake drill approaching on 15 October, tonight’s earthquake is a timely reminder to know what to do when an earthquake occurs:

DROP to the ground.
COVER under a sturdy piece of furniture and protect your head and neck.
HOLD ON until the shaking stops.

By comparison, the September 2021 earthquake in Victoria was 5.9 magnitude.

⭐ Park your vehicles undercover, away from trees.
⭐ Never drive through floodwater.
⭐ Stay informed via the VicEmergency app or emergency.vic.gov.au.
⭐ Set up watch zones for where you live, work and travel.
⭐ If you need Victoria State Emergency Service assistance for storm or flood damage, call 132 500.
