HOUSE BOAT FIRE - SHOALHAVEN HEADS

At approximately 1:45am this morning, Shoalhaven Heads Pumper was responded as part of a multi-agency response to reports of a house boat alight on a mooring off Hay Avenue, Shoalhaven Heads.

crews arrived on scene to a house boat fully involved in fire, with a civilian rescue of one person underway. Firefighters established a control point for the incident at the Hay Ave boat ramp and, once the occupant was transferred to Paramedics, begun extinguishing the fire from a NSW RFS - Shoalhaven Fire Boat.

Utilising their RPAS capability, P224 Berry conducted initial thermal imaging searches of the waterway followed by overhead monitoring and lighting of the incident. Firefighters then worked alongside NSW SES Nowra Unit and HAZMAT 488 to deploy absorbent booms around the vessel.

The incident concluded at approximately 05:30 this morning following a coordinated multi-agency effort. Thanks to Gerringong and West Nowra Brigades who were also in attendance.

🚒 2 DAYS TO GO - GET READY WEEKEND - ARE YOU READY? 🔥

As the bush fire season gets underway, take a few minutes this weekend to have a look around your home.

Ask yourself:
🏡 Are my gutters and areas around the house clear of leaves and debris?
🌿 Is vegetation around my home maintained?
🚗 Do I know when I would leave if a fire threatened?
📱 Do I know where I’ll get emergency information?
👨‍👩‍👧 Does my family know what our plan is?

You don't have to do everything at once, every little bit of preparation helps.

If you're not sure where to start, come and talk to us at Get Ready Weekend & Open Day this Sunday. We're more than happy to help.
