It’s been a successful week for members of Pacific Palms RFS!

🔥Jess and Tina, completed and passed their BF ( Basic Fire fighting training) and are now active fire fighters!

Great to have you on board!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

🚒Then today Rod, Bruno, Cruise and Lilly passed thier BAO- (Breathing Apparatus Operator) this is an RFS qualification to enable them to wear & maintain RFS “SCBA” equipment when fighting a external fire.

An example of where this is nessesary to be used recently, was Tuncurry tip fire.

❓“SCBA” is Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus.
It is a form of respiratory protection which supplies clean breathing air to the wearer from a compressed air cylinder on their back.

When you breath out this breath passes through an exhalation valve, incorporated in the facemask.

👩‍🚒The course is tough and you train for many hours during and after the course. This course has to be regularly updated and qualified members have to attend a recertification to keep their qualifications.

A huge well done to the team.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

❤️New members are always welcome!

It was lovely to meet so many members of our community today & to see the happy faces on the children, particularly those we visited at their preschool over the last 2 weeks.

🔥Getting ready for bushfire & being prepared is one of the top things we can do for ourselves & our families safety, with chooseing to live in our beautiful natural surrounds.

It’s as simple as:

1. Keeping your grass short & catch your clippings.

2. Cleaning your gutters regularly.

3. Trimming overhanging trees and shrubs from your property.

4. Moving anything flammable away from your house (think wood piles & piles of leaf & tree litter.)

5. 📱Downloading Hazzards Near Me app.

6. Make a written or digital Bush Fire Survival Plan.

🙏Thank you, to our valued RFS members, who turned out today, to chat with you our nieghbour’s and community members, to show you over our fire trucks, cook a sausage sizzle for you & help you know what to do in the event of a Bush Fire.

With Spring well underway, we are starting our street meetings again, and several were booked in today.

🚒 If you would like to have a street meeting in your street, on what you can do to protect yourself & your loved ones from bushfire & what’s our plan B, if we have no warning to leave early or can not not leave our villages due to the bushfire, reach out through messenger & we can book it in.

All you need to do is bring a chair & a cool drink, we do the rest.

📱Download your BUSH FIRE SURVIVAL PLAN today or reach out through messenger & we can deliver a hard copy to you.

🙏Thank you to Pacific Palms VIEW club, for your invitation to speak on Bush Fire safety, at your meeting last night.

What a fabulous group of women, who are committed & connected by the common purpose of improving the lives of Australian students experiencing disadvantage by supporting their education.

📱It was fantastic to see all of these wise women, had Hazards Near Me, set up on their phones, to enable them to be alerted and updated on Bush or Grass Fires in our area.

Having vital information at our finger tips, when we need it most, is all part of our Bush Fire Survival Plans. Have you got Hazzards near me on your phone?

👩‍🚒I look forward to meeting many of you again this Saturday, (19 Sept) to chat further about your individual Bush Fire Survival Plans.

We also look forward to our wider community, dropping by the RFS Fire station on Macwood Rd Smiths Lake between 9:00am till 1:00pm this Saturday!

🚒There will be fire plans, lots of helpful information, children’s activities, a chance for the children & the children a heart to use the fire hoses along with a free sausage sizzle.

See you there !

New members always welcome!

❓Where will you and your family go to stay safe?
Your family may not be together when you decide to leave, so it’s important to organise a meeting place.

🦮Not all evacuation centres cater for pets, so if you have pets, consider places that allow them to stay too.

Visit the RFS Station on Macwood rd, Smiths Lake THIS Saturday.
9am till 1pm

Talk to us, about making your Bushfire Survival Plan.
