Today was the start of moving some of our breeders to some summer agistment which we are so thankful to have access to this year! This allows our paddocks to have a much needed rest and we can get a plan in place to sow down some paddocks early next year.

The four girls who were moved today are very happy to be in a paddock full of grass, the most they’ve seen since we moved back home from our year in Gippsland in 2023!

Just a man and his bull 🩵

Vaquero has been kicking back and relaxing after Melbourne Royal, but little does he know he still has a few more outings left for the season!

We have three more shows on our calendar, where he will showcase the Murray Grey breed alongside our heifer Wait Till Dawn, and potentially a cow and calf unit if we get time to break in the calves.

But for now, Vaquero is enjoying the beautiful weather and being back in a paddock 🩵

You know the feeling- you’ve been up since 3am to get a spot on the washbay for your daily spa treatments, you get breakfast in a spotlessly clean bed, and then you’re told by multiple passersby that your the prettiest cows they’ve ever seen, all while the humans cater to your every desire ✨

What a hard life it is for show cattle

We’re looking forward to our next shows, with planning (as usual for this year it seems 🙈) not even started. But first- the cows are enjoying their well deserved rest after Melbourne last week.

If you have a great local show we should maybe check out, let us know! We love to support the local shows as that’s where the spotlight on agriculture truly shines

Last week Alla and FLC Wait Till Dawn W2 were in the Bioworma Heifer Feature Show at Melbourne Royal. These classes run in an interbreed style and is in addition to the regular breed classes.

In an incredibly competitive heifer class and one of the most difficult handler classes we have seen for a while, Alla gave it a red hot crack and paraded W2.
Unfortunately with W2 refusing to drink or eat much while we were at the show, she didn’t look as good as we know she can, but Alla handled these tough classes with grace and professionalism, and it’s been a great start to her cattle career this year.

We look forward to watching Alla over the next few years as the best is yet to come

While we wait for our official photos to be available from Melbourne, we’d like to congratulate Penny Lane Breeders on a fantastic show with their Senior Bull ‘Roger’ being awarded top 4 in the Senior Bull Interbreed! We love being able to be a small part of the process of getting Champions to the ring with our clipping and fitting services, and love being able to support breeders on show day.
Roger was also sashed Champion Shorthorn Bull during his breed judging, with judges across both competitions praising his:
✅ smooth shoulders
✅ walking ability
✅ red meat yield
✅ correct structure

Also congratulations to one of our young handlers Bethany on leading Roger in her first Royal Interbreed! You did an amazing job under pressure out there and showcased Roger perfectly!

We love working on the Penny Lane cattle, and look forward to the next show for ‘Team Pink’

No rest for the wicked 😎

Today we made a flying trip down to our friends at Baringa Park Angus to get their team clipped before they start their Spring show season this weekend.

We will not be exhibiting at Geelong Royal this year as we are having a short break before our small locals to support them, so if you’re planning on getting animals clipped for Geelong please get in touch.

Yesterday was another big day, this time for the Angus judging and then Shorthorn judging!

5 head for Longview Agriculture in the mornings Angus classes, congratulations on a great morning, and a massive well done to our junior handler Lucas who is managing his first solo team.

Then the afternoon was spent working on another 7 head for PENNY LANE BREEDERS in the Shorthorn judging, with a well deserved Senior and Grand Champion bull for Brendan and Leanne with ‘Roger’!

Then the evening was spent watching the Murray Grey kids in the Waterford Youth Fitting Challenge. A great job by the team.

Today is the Bioworma Youth Heifer Feature with international judge Kirk Stierwalt! FLC Wait Till Dawn W2 will be heading back into the ring with Alla for the heifer classes, with the paraders classes on tomorrow.
