Today, on War Widows Day, we honour the courage, resilience and contribution of Australia’s war widows.
For generations, war widows have carried the impact of their partners’ service while supporting families, rebuilding lives after loss and contributing to their communities.
This year also marks 80 years since war widows first came together in NSW to support one another and seek recognition, a legacy that continues through the Families of Veterans Guild today.
At Open Arms, we recognise that service can have a lasting impact on the whole family. Today, we acknowledge war widows and widowers, remember those they have lost, and recognise the strength of veteran families across Australia.
You can show your support by adding a story to the War Widows Honour Roll or wearing the limited-edition golden wattle pin. Find out more: familiesofveterans.org.au/war-widows-day
