🌲 𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗢𝗩𝗔𝗟 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞𝗦 – 𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗘𝗟𝗟 𝗖𝗔𝗨𝗦𝗘𝗪𝗔𝗬 🚧

Council's contractor will be undertaking works to remove pine trees along the Sorell Causeway from 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟯 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

🚗 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰: Motorists may experience some delays and interruptions to traffic flow while works are underway.

🚶 𝗣𝗲𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀: The footpath along the Causeway will be closed for the duration of the works.

♻️ 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲!

Where possible, usable timber from the removed trees will be salvaged and repurposed for future community projects, including park benches, picnic tables and other improvements to our public spaces.

We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding while these works are carried out. Please take care when travelling through the area and follow any traffic management directions in place.

Today we held our second Seniors Month activity, with a Come and Try Bowls morning at Sorell Bowls Club.

It was lovely to see everyone getting involved, having a go and enjoying a morning of bowls, a cuppa and a chat. A big thank you to the Sorell Bowls Club for hosting us!

🌳 𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗘 𝗠𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞𝗦 – 𝗗𝗢𝗗𝗚𝗘𝗦 𝗙𝗘𝗥𝗥𝗬 🌳

Council has scheduled tree maintenance works on the large eucalyptus tree located opposite the Dodges Ferry shops, near the bus stop.

📅 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟱 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲
⏱️ Expected duration: Approximately 2 hours

A qualified arborist will be undertaking trimming of the lower branches and removal of deadwood to help maintain the health and safety of the tree.

There may be some minor disruptions around the work area while maintenance is underway.

We thank the community for their patience and understanding while these works are completed. 🌿

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁: 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗢𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗻𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀! 🐍

With the recent warming in weather, our slithery friends are making more frequent appearances in our area. It's important to stay vigilant while enjoying the outdoors. Remember, snakes play a crucial role in our ecosystem, and they aren't out to harm us intentionally. They're simply seeking cooler spots, which might lead them into unexpected places like kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, or garages.

🚨 If you spot a snake, stay calm. Don't attempt to capture or scare it away. Instead, contact a local snake catcher for safe removal. Snakes may defend themselves if they feel threatened, so it's best to keep a safe distance.
🥾 When out in the bush, consider wearing snake-safe attire to protect yourself. And here's a crucial tip for everyone in Tasmania: If you ever get bitten by a snake, don't try to capture or kill it for identification, stay calm and follow the guidelines of Department of Natural Resources and Environment.

Thankfully, a single type of anti-venom works for all our local snake species, so identification isn't necessary.
