Absolutely essential for new and re-elected candidates - the induction provides crucial grounding in how councils work, the councillor role and issues for the sector in Tasmania and nationally.
Being together with your new peers is a wonderful opportunity to kickstart your councillor journey with relationships inside and outside your council, bringing perspectives and supports that will help you ask wise questions, make sound decisions and feel supported as you navigate all the complex situations councillors face.
Hoping to see both new and familiar faces at the 2026 induction.☀️
Imagine you're elected. What happens next 🤔
Our Elected Member Induction Program will help you understand the role, navigate relationships, make informed decisions and lead effectively from day one.
It kicks off right after the votes are counted and takes a practical look at some of the more nuanced aspects of being an effective elected representative.
Our free session in November will focus on the situations and decisions councillors are likely to encounter in practice. They will be held in three locations across Tasmania:
📍 Devonport | 18 November, 5:00pm to 8:00pm
