House Fire – Tumblong – 28/10/26

Shortly before 8:30pm tonight, local emergency services were called to a reported house fire at Tumblong.

On arrival, crews found the homeowner and NSW Rural Fire Service had already extinguished the majority of the fire. Fire damage was contained to approximately a quarter of the home, with fire extending into the roof space.

FRNSW crews wearing breathing apparatus (BA) conducted an extensive search of the fire-damaged areas and worked to extinguish remaining hot spots to ensure the scene was safe.

Thankfully, all occupants were accounted for, with minor smoke inhalation reported.

A great effort by the homeowner and RFS crews in getting the fire under control before FRNSW arrived.

At 2:30 this morning, crews responded to a motor vehicle accident on the Hume Highway, south of Gundagai.

Upon arrival, a truck had crossed from the northbound side, over the median strip, coming to a stop just short of oncoming traffic. The driver was out of the vehicle and had already placed road markers to help manage traffic safely.

It was great to see other truck drivers had pulled over to assist.

πŸš’ MULTIPLE FIRE CALLS – SOUTH GUNDAGAI - 16/5/26πŸš’

Crews responded to multiple calls to separate properties today reporting fires within town which were later identified as bonfires / yard fires.

All calls were made by concerned neighbours who believed the fires may have been house fires or out-of-control burns.

This is an important reminder that if you are conducting any burning activities in town, please notify your neighbours beforehand so they are aware and do not become unnecessarily concerned.

If your fire becomes unsafe or starts to spread, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
