A big day for the crews of NSW RFS - The Hills Remote Area Operations Unit. We supplied a crew to assist with a land search for missing persons down in the Southern Highlands. Working along side NSW Police Force and various other search agencies in some steep challenging terrain. We also provided a crew to assist Maroota Rural Fire Brigade with a community engagement event at the local school fete, where we show cased what remote operations are like from fire fighting, searches, rescues and all the other types of operations that we encounter.

Over the course of last week and the weekend The Hills Remote Area Operations Unit hosted the yearly AF Navigation course for the district. This was held in a mixture of classroom and bushland environments. It was good to get the assistance and mentoring from those that use this skill set frequently and passing it on to those coming up thru the brigades. Well done everyone and congratulations on the completion of your AF course. See you all out in the bush soon.....

On Saturday night The Hills RAFT team was called in to assist with strengthening the containment of the Paul's Road HR. A RAFT team assisted by local brigades were task and a few hours later emerged from the scrub ready for bed. The next day addional RAFT/ardous crews assist by other local bridges were used to continue working on lines for the hazard reduction burn. Was great working with people from various brigades from across the district.

With good conditions at the moment The Hills RAOU will continue to be providing crews for hazard reductions while conditions allow.
