Take action to fix housing for young people in Australia — Home Time 28/04/2026

As a supporter of the Home Time campaign, we are joining the call for action this week.

Home Time is asking supporters across the country to help show the strong community backing for fixing the Youth Housing Penalty and ensuring young people experiencing homelessness can access safe, affordable housing.

We’re encouraging our community of staff, supporters, partners and friends to head to the Home Time website and add your voice. The campaign is urging the Government to include a targeted Youth Housing Supplement in the 2026-27 Federal Budget, helping to close the rental gap that currently prevents many young people from accessing available homes.

Show your support, it only takes 30 seconds. 🧡🙏

End Youth Homelessness! The SPCHG Youth Housing Support Program team is committed to making a difference in the lives of our single young clients/ young parents (16-25). Our program aims to address the root causes of homelessness through early interventions – focusing on developing connections and opportunities in employment, education, mental health and family support. A shout out to our partners and networks to keep your eye out for our team member, Jess who will attend today’s Youth Homelessness Matters Day forum & magazine launch organized by Council to Homeless Persons and Melbourne City Mission. We are campaigning to the Australian government!

Join us in demanding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health equality within a generation. This shorter life expectancy (and further disadvantage with the fact that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people make up 20% of all Australians experiencing homelessness, despite being only 3.2% of the population) needs urgent attention.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples still live, on average, 10-11 years less than non-Indigenous Australians.

Closing the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander life expectancy gap is everyone’s business: it is a national issue in which every individual, organisation and group in Australia can play a role.

In true SPCHG style, our community gathered to celebrate International Women’s Day – staff, residents and board members. One resident shared that she had been so excited to attend, that she barely slept a wink the night before! We are imagining a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive. 🤗 💜
