If you love Shakespeare but have no time to read (I'm sure there's a logical fallacy hiding here somewhere...) how about this neat solution:
all of Shakespeare in three panel web comics!
Enjoy!

Gender-flips are a great means to fight sexism.
Look what happens when all those women from the urban fantasy novel covers are replaced by men. Well, a man and his Teddy, to be exact.

Cover Poses
In January of 2012, I decided to try posing like some of the women on fantasy cover art, as a way to try to show the exaggeration--and in some cases, the outright absurdity--of the poses. This proved to be my most-read blog post, and led to several more photoshoots, not to mention a fundraiser that…

Will #readwomen2014 change our sexist reading habits?
Female authors are marginalised by newspapers and literary journals, and their books are given 'girly' covers. Take action against this inequality by making sure the next book you read is by a woman, says Joanna Walsh

The best fiction of 2013
There were mighty tomes from Donna Tartt and Eleanor Catton, pastiches for lovers of Bond and Wodehouse, and a final novel from Iain Banks. We look back at the year's big hitters

For those of you who seek respite after exams, try The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton (available in JCH Library (Bage)).
Despite its imposing 800+ pages it is a truly rejuvenating read.
Its mathematical sophistication is on par with the best of Nabokov.
If mind-bending tricks are your thing, pick The Luminaries and let it sweep you away.

Sweden sets a new benchmark in a fight for gender equality.
"Cinemas in Sweden are introducing a new rating to highlight gender bias, or rather the absence of it. To get an A rating, a movie must pass the so-called Bechdel test, which means it must have at least two named female characters who talk to each other about something other than a man. The entire Lord of the Rings trilogy, all Star Wars movies, The Social Network, Pulp Fiction and all but one of the Harry Potter movies fail this test."
Can you think of a movie that passes the test?
