🏆WELL DONE LOUIS 🏆
After a hard 18 months of daily training in Melbourne and monthly weekend-long training camps in Brisbane, our Swim Instructor Louis and a handful of other Victorian representatives travelled to Montreal, Canada to represent Australia in the Underwater Rugby World 🌎 Championships. The competition saw nations from across the world competing in a round robin format spanning a week and a half. Australia’s 🇦🇺 previous best ranking was 9th overall, and they were ecstatic to come away this time with a result of 7th. With the Champions happening once every 4 years, we’re already pumped to get back in to training with our sights set on a better position in 2027.
For anyone curious (and confused!), underwater rugby is played completely underwater inside a 5m deep dive pool. The ball is between a baseball and a netball in size and is filled with water, so sinks very slowly in the water. Wearing a mask, snorkel and large stiff flippers, teams (6 in the water and 6 on the subbing bench per side) engage in full-contact play of tackling and passing to get the ball into the basket, which sits on the ground against the wall on each team’s side. Good play relies on multiple efforts (with your breath held) at depth, with no more than 2-3 breaths on the surface between efforts, for at least 90 seconds before heading to the subbing bench.
Louis, from the Team at South Pacific Health Clubs, we are thrilled to have you back and think you’re amazing for what you have achieved in underwater Rugby!

To our wonderful St Kilda Sea baths swim school family,
Well done! We’re half way through Term 2 swimming lessons!
As we can feel the temperature is dropping, we want to give you some tips in preparation for the Winter season:
👩🏫👨🏻🏫 If your swimming legend is feeling the cold at their swimming lesson, then we suggest you try the following:
🌊 A swim cap to retain their body heat, even if the cap gets wet, it will keep heat in. Check out our awesome range next to our reception desk.
🐙 A bodysuit for babies or rash vest or wetsuit to retain their body heat. Remember to keep them moving in the water!
🐬A couple of towels, one to wrap them in when getting out and another to dry off with.
💦 A warm shower straight after the lesson.
🧣Warm clothing particularly singlet, socks and beanie that sits close to the skin and keeps their body heat in.
☕️ A nice warm drink at home. A hot chocolate as a treat for getting through their class. Herbal tea for the parents.
Looking forward to seeing you all on pool deck! 🏊🏻♀️🏊🏻♂️

If you’ve read this till the end, come and collect a voucher for Beachcomber in celebration of our Open Week 🥳
Happy new year to our wonderful
