Come on down to Bunnings at Stafford! The Sausage Sizzle is in full swing. The aroma of freshly sliced onions sizzling away on the BBQ will entice you to stop by!
Rode meats sausages are cooked to perfection. Iced drinks are aplenty.
What a wonderful Queensland Day, and a great opportunity to support a local community group.

At Stafford Meals on Wheels, our volunteers are usually united by the same values and purposeโฆ but come State of Origin season, all bets are off! ๐
At last weekโs celebration lunch, a few brave volunteers revealed themselves as Blues supporters. The shock! The betrayal! ๐ฒ๐
We share a fond memory of our passionate Maroons supporters, Sue and Barbara, who each season proudly showed their true colours, decked out in support of the mighty Queenslanders. ๐ฉท

On Thursday we celebrated with our wonderful volunteers.
It was an opportunity for volunteers from different delivery days to meet each other and share some interests and laughs. ๐๐ค
Thank you to Cr Tracy Davis, Councillor Danita Parry and Cr Andrew Wines for your attendance and participation. We thank you for your lovely hampers and for helping us to recognise some of our volunteers who received special milestone awards for service. Your presence and your words about Stafford Meals on Wheels reaffirm the high value that we place on our volunteers.

As National Volunteer Week 2026 comes to an end, we reflect on this yearโs theme: ๐ฌ๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐ฌ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ ๐๐ผ ๐ฉ๐ผ๐น๐๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฟ. ๐
This week, three of our volunteers โ Marilyn, Clare and Pauline โ generously shared their volunteering stories. Each of them once made the decision to volunteer with Stafford Meals on Wheels, and every year since, theyโve continued to give their time and care to our community.
Marilyn has volunteered on Mondays for 36 years, Clare for 7 years, and Pauline joined us this year as one of our newest volunteers. All three regularly step in to help on additional days when needed.
Their dedication speaks not only to the generosity of our volunteers, but also to the importance of the service Meals on Wheels provides in our community.

Volunteers with Stafford Meals on Wheels visit clients in their homes. Through repeated visits, they build rapport. And they are privileged to have conversations about a whole range of topics.
And these conversations provide insights into the experiences of life that others in our community have had. ๐ฅ
It helps us to open our eyes. To learn from others. To encourage us to keep up with our own interests. To have a better understanding of lives and times different from ours. And it helps us to gently consider for what our lives may be like in the future and how we might prepare for how we can continue to live a life of independence in our homes.
Our volunteers live in their community. They get to see more of their community as they drive to deliver meals. They serve in their community. They volunteer to give back to their community. ๐งก
