🔥 PERMIT TO LIGHT FIRE – STRICT CONDITIONS IN PLACE 🔥

Due to the continuing forecast weather conditions and increased fire potential across the Central Queensland District, minimum conditions are currently in place for all Permits to Light Fire.

Effective from 29 September 2026 until further notice:

• Permits will only be issued for a maximum of 14 DAYS.
• Fires may only be lit in accordance with conditions set by the Local Fire Warden.
• NO fires are to be lit before 4:00pm and all fires must be extinguished before 6:00am the following morning.
• A minimum 4-metre BARE EARTH firebreak must be established adjacent to the intended burn area.
• Forecast winds and wind gusts, as advised by the BOM, must not exceed 20km/h.
• Burns must be actively patrolled until the fire is completely blacked out and made safe.
• A minimum of 4 CAPABLE PERSONS must be on scene.
• The burn must be appropriately resourced with suitable and operational firefighting equipment.

⚠️ These conditions MUST be followed. A Permit to Light Fire does not remove the permit holder’s responsibility to ensure the burn is conducted safely and in accordance with all conditions issued.

Please ensure you understand and comply with all conditions attached to your permit before lighting.

If you’re travelling through the area, please slow down, drive with caution and keep an eye out for emergency vehicles and crews working nearby.

Please give our crews plenty of room to work safely. 🚒🔥

🔥 FIRE PERMITS SUSPENDED 🔥

Please be advised that all Permits to Light Fire within the Rockhampton and Livingstone local government areas will be suspended:

📅 From 12:01am Thursday 24 September 2026
➡️ Until 11:59pm Monday 28 September 2026

During this period:
• No new Permits to Light Fire will be issued.
• No fires are to be lit under any current permits.
• Current permit holders are asked to take note of the suspension.

This decision has been made due to forecast increased fire danger ratings and low humidity over the coming days.

After a huge day out on the fireground at the Gracemere Industrial Estate, we’d like to say a massive thank you to all the brigades and crews who were able to assist.

It was a long and challenging day, and the teamwork and support from everyone involved was greatly appreciated. 🚒🔥

📅 Suspension period:
From 12:01am Thursday, 10 September through to 11:59pm Wednesday, 23 September 2026, inclusive.

During this period:
• No new Permits to Light Fire will be issued.
• No new fires are to be lit under an existing permit.
• Current permit holders should be aware that their permits are suspended for the duration of this period.

The suspension is due to forecast high fire danger ratings and low humidity across the region.

Please stay vigilant and help keep our community safe. 🚒🔥

Today is about recognising the incredible volunteers who pull on the yellow when their community needs them most.

Here at Stanwell Rural Fire Brigade, we’re more than just a brigade, we’re neighbours, friends, families and locals looking out for one another.

Whether it’s responding to fires, helping during emergencies, preparing our community or simply lending a hand, our volunteers proudly give their time to help keep our little community safe. 💛
