🚌 Multi-Agency Cooperation in Training Scenario 🚌

Last night we were lucky enough to be invited to join SES Bendigo Unit , Fire Rescue Victoria Station 73, Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police to participate in the annual Multi-Agency multi-casualty scenario.

This event has been hosted by Bendigo SES for the last four years, allowing all agencies the opportunity to undertake our roles in a highly realistic motor vehicle accident scenario.

Our members were "first on scene", with our Incident Controller Lieutenant Turner organizing his crew, providing an accurate situation report for oncoming services and providing critical fire suppression support to all agencies on scene.

** No training dummies were hurt in the making of this scenario **

🔥 Stair Climb Champions 🔥

Captain Jonesy, Lieutenant Darcy and Firefighter Brodie have successfully completed the stair Climb today!

As a part of their amazing effort, they managed to raise an amazing $28,522 for the Peter Mac Foundation, Triple 0 Foundation and Beyond Blue!

As a part of this effort, they boys raised the second highest amount of donations in Australia, with Captain Jonesy raising the highest individual amount of $14,818.

It's safe to say we are so proud of the efforts of our members raising funds and doing the climb, all for such an amazing cause.

Captain Jonesy celebrated the effort with a few ice cold apple juices afterwards!

🔥🔥Here is your Strathfieldsaye Fire Brigade team taking on the 2026 Melbourne firefighter stair climb Saturday morning! 🔥🔥

Brodie, Jonesy and Darcy have been working hard fundraising to support Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation, 000 Foundation and Lifeline.
Captain Jonesy is currently sitting 1st place in most individual raised funds out of roughly 1000 participants and the brigade is sitting 1st place out of roughly 150 organisations from all across Australia.

So far the brigade tally total is roughly $22,000!

We’re super proud of our members participating in Melbourne’s annual firefighters stair climb. Our Strathfieldsaye firefighters have raised the most money of any brigade/organisation in Australia, with our very own Captain Jones sitting atop the individual leaderboard of over 150 entrants. With 60 hours to go, there’s still plenty of time to donate to a great cause. The proceeds raised will be used for vital cancer research, and mental health support for first responders. AusAlert is a new national warning system that uses the latest technology to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices during local and national disasters. AusAlert messages keep communities informed so they can take action, saving lives and property.

The AusAlert system will be tested nationally on the 27th July with Victorian testing to take place at 2pm. AusAlert will not replace the VicEmergency App.

🔥 Home Heating & Fireplace Safety Tips

Heaters are a major cause of home fires, especially during the winter months when they’re used more often and longer.

• Have all heating systems serviced regularly.

Ensure heaters, flues and chimneys are cleaned and maintained by a certified technician to keep them operating safely.

• Turn off heating and extinguish open fires before leaving or going to sleep

Never leave heaters running or fires burning unattended.

• Keep flammable items at least 1 metre from heat sources.

Maintain a clear safety zone around heaters, fireplaces and other appliances that produce heat.

• Supervise children around heaters and open fires.

Keep kids at a safe distance and teach them about heat‑related dangers.

• Always use a screen in front of an open fire.

A fire screen prevents sparks and embers from escaping. Ensure embers are completely cold before disposing of them.
