The Sunbury Show has concluded for another year. Thank you to everyone who came to see us and get information on the upcoming fire season through our Get Fire Ready campaign! 🔥

We all had a wonderful day meeting our future little firefighters who tried on some turn out gear, and even Captain Koala made a few appearances throughout the day! 👩🏻‍🚒👨🏻‍🚒

For those who missed us, we will be at Sunbury StreetLife Festival on November 22nd to discuss more ways to be fire ready, and also sell some more merchandise. 🐨

It's Show Day!

The sun is shining and so is our fire truck! 🌞🚒 Our brigade will be at Sunbury Show, near the main Riddell Road entry until 430pm.

Drop by to find out how you can Get Fire Ready, buy a refreshing cold drink (water, soft drink cans, and juice pop tops), look at our fire truck, and enjoy plenty of activities for the kids. They can even dress up as a firefighter and sit in our mini helicopter! 🚁

Our friend, Captain Koala will be appearing at various times over the day so look out for him too 🐨

And that’s a wrap! ⭐️ Thank you to everyone who supported us by buying a sausage or drink, visited our smoke alarm stall to further their knowledge on the importance of maintaining their smoke alarms, and went home with some of our merchandise! 🌭⚪️🐨🚒

We would also like to thank three amazing companies who very generously donated towards today’s BBQ to ensure our fundraising went that little bit further!

Woken up bleary eyed and with one less hour of sleep? 🥱There's a brighter day ahead!

The rain is easing up and we may even see some sunshine 🌤 So spring out of bed, move any old school clocks forward an hour and then head on down to see us at Bunnings Sunbury.

Have a truly Australian brunch - a Bunnings sausage on fresh white bread, a can of soft drink, or, if you must be fancy, a coffee from the cafe. 🌭☕️ Now you're really awake, pop back to see us about all things smoke alarms ⚪️ The change to daylight saving is the perfect reminder to test your alarm. Simply press and hold the test button until the smoke alarm keeps three times. If it doesn't beep three times, it needs new batteries or to be replaced. 🔋🔊

We know the kids probably won't care about the lost sleep, so bring them down to see the fire truck too. We know how much energy that burns! 🚒

A few keen-eyed locals have already complimented our new look. Yes, our beloved Station 2 (Jackson Street) has had a facelift. 🫣🌿

One doesn't normally share tips for maintaining a youthful look, but this time we'll make an exception! We have Xsquizit Landscapes to thank for the quick makeover. ✨

While the station is looking refreshed, tidy and ready for the bushfire season, it's also a great reminder that garden maintenance plays an important role in bushfire preparedness.

Some of the key tasks we've tackled include:
🔥 Pruning shrubs and cutting back overhanging tree branches
🔥 Keeping grass well maintained (between 5cm and 10cm where possible) - we removed some to reduce the workload
🔥 Removing dead undergrowth from bushes and shrubs
🔥 Reducing vegetation around buildings and removing green waste

🔥Meet our newest firefighters! 👨🏻‍🚒👨🏻‍🚒

Alongside 13 other recruits from neighbouring brigades, four of our GFF’s successfully completed their General Firefighter Course today and are nearly ready to roll out on the trucks! 🚒

A huge thank you to the members of the Sunbury Fire Brigade who supported them through months of intensive training – your guidance has been invaluable!

Please join us in congratulating Brandon, Jamie, Toby, and Tom! This is such an incredible achievement, and we’re so proud to welcome you all to the team. 🔥👏

We are encouraging the communities to Get Fire Ready. Stop by our stall at Sunbury Show to learn about the fire risks in your area, how to prepare your property, and where to get emergency information and warnings when it matters most.

Pre-season training complete ✅️

Our members have completed important refresher training on how to respond to grass and bushfires in readiness for the upcoming season.

Muscle memory is key when responding to what can be dangerous conditions. Today our members practised:
🔥 what to do if they caught in an emergency situation
🔥 grassfire and forest fire tactics
🔥 mayday calls
🔥 off-road driving

Thank you to everyone who gave us a wave from behind our exclusion zone, allowing us to conduct our training safely. It was a great morning! 👋🏼
