Today is National Boss's Day! 🤩🚒

Here in District 18, we might be biased, but we definitely have the best leadership duo around! We want to give a huge shout-out to Gavin and Chris for all their hard work and everything they do behind the scenes to keep the District running and our Brigades operational.

We know we don’t say it often enough, but you both do an incredible job keeping the wheels turning. We are so grateful to have bosses who care for our Volunteers as much as we do.

To show our appreciation, today we are offering a one-time-only deal: we will actually listen to Gav’s stories instead of just nodding along and we'll ensure Chris’s coffee cup is never empty.

As no photos were available (or allowed) to be taken at the time of this post, we had to engage one of our local artist to draw some life like creations for us. 😂

CFA brigades are built on teamwork and supporting one another. We know that we are at our best when we stand together and that goes for our mental health too.

This World Mental Health Day, the theme "Together We Thrive" reminds us that looking after our mental wellbeing is a shared responsibility. We thrive when we check in on our mates, speak openly about stress and back each other up through the highs and lows of volunteering and everyday life.

If you or someone in your brigade is doing it tough, please remember that support is always available. You don't have to carry the load alone.

Today, 1 October, is International Day of Older Persons - a day to recognise and celebrate the valuable contributions older people make to our communities.

Across CFA, older members bring a wealth of experience, knowledge, skills and connection to their brigades and communities. Their contribution, whether on the fireground, behind the scenes or through mentoring and supporting others, helps strengthen CFA and the communities we serve.

Today is an opportunity to celebrate older people, recognise their achievements and promote respect and inclusion at every age.

Thank you to our older CFA members for the experience, commitment and contribution you continue to bring.

📣Just a reminder that the Women's Advisory Committee is recruiting until this Friday!

The Women’s Advisory Committee (WAC) provides a forum for representatives of CFA women and gender diverse members to directly engage with the CEO, Chief Officer and other senior CFA representatives and to discuss opportunities to support diversity and inclusion across the organisation. The Committee includes volunteers from all 21 CFA districts, representing a range of roles and experiences and the committee meets approximately every two months.

More information about the Women’s Advisory Committee is available on the CFA Members Online website.

If you are interested in joining the Committee:
1. Consider whether you would like to join the Women's Advisory Committee and commit to meetings and optional working groups, networks, consultations and other advisory work for the next term (2 years).
2. Discuss your potential membership with your current WAC member/s, District Women's Network and/or your District Volunteer Sustainability Team. They can support you to apply.
