We need you to take 2 mins to write an email in favour of this development by the govt’s public housing arm. Some of their previous projects have been significantly downsized in response to community opposition and we don’t want that to happen here.

The State Government’s public housing arm has recently proposed 179 new social homes in the Hillsdale, and the local NIMBYs aren’t happy.
Sydney YIMBY made an organisational submission in favour of this, but almost every other public comment was complaining about architecture, property prices, traffic, or how social housing was going to bring down the tone of the area.
Our city needs more people saying ‘yes’ in these consultations, but in the interim: we urge the Planning Department to ignore these objections and get these homes built. They are sorely needed.

Bringing down construction costs is critical to getting more apartments built outside of Sydney’s richest areas, so we’re excited that Matt’s paper “Zoning Reform and Construction Productivity” gives some hope on this front.
