The Committee on the Health Care Complaints Commission has concluded its public hearing as part of its review of the Health Care Complaints Commission's 2024–25 Annual Report.

The Committee received evidence from the Commissioner and senior staff from the Health Care Complaints Commission.

The Committee heard about the work that the Commission is doing to support:
- complainants, including those who identify as Aboriginal, culturally and linguistically diverse, and LGBTQIA+
- health practitioners that are subject to complaint, and
- the wellbeing of its staff.

The Committee on Law and Safety is inviting submissions for a new inquiry into the forensic division of the NSW Mental Health Review Tribunal.

This inquiry will examine how the Tribunal's forensic divisions are operating today, and whether current laws and settings are delivering appropriate outcomes for patients, victims and the broader community.

This inquiry provides an opportunity to ensure the system remains effective, with a particular focus on the impact of recent legislative changes on the forensic division's operations.

The Committee is seeking input from experts, people with lived experience, victim representatives and members of the public.

This week, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, The Hon Greg Piper MP, welcomed the High Commissioner of Pakistan, H.E. Irfan Shaukat, to the Parliament of NSW.

The meeting highlighted the longstanding relationship between Australia and Pakistan. A relationship with enduring and growing ties, underpinned by deepening people to people links. Both countries are members of the Commonwealth, are federations with bicameral legislatures, and share a common law tradition – as well as a great love of cricket.
