We love this year’s theme for : A Million Stories.

Sharing and listening to stories of lived experience is a crucial part of our work to improve cancer outcomes.

We collaborate closely with refugee community leaders like Beatrice, who work tirelessly to promote health literacy in their communities.

By partnering with respect and dignity, we are empowering people across NSW to take control of their health.

Pastor Binneh Conteh was just 30 years old when diagnosed with bowel cancer.

“My life was shattered. Just imagine – I was young, healthy and full of energy. I was writing an honours thesis. But above all, I had a wife and young kids.”

He went to the doctor after noticing blood in his stool. Tests revealed his cancer was close to stage 3 and had spread to other parts of the body. What followed was 3 years of treatment and recovery.

Despite a hard journey, Pastor Binneh is now 15 years cancer free and counting. This , he is sharing his story to help more people find bowel cancer early. 💙

Sadly 1 in 5 men in NSW will get prostate cancer by age 85, but having the right information can help.

Many prostate cancers do not cause symptoms in the early stages, but there are some symptoms to look out for:

➡️ Problems passing urine
➡️ Having to pass urine more often
➡️ Not being able to wait to go to the bathroom
➡️ Pain or burning when passing urine
➡️ Blood in the urine or semen
➡️ Pain in the lower back or hips
➡️ Tiredness, shortness of breath, weight loss or dizziness

is a great time to learn more and be proactive about your health. Speak with a GP about any symptoms or concerns.

Make an informed choice for your health.

There’s a simple way to better understand your own risk of alcohol-related bowel cancer. Use our alcohol and cancer risk tool to find out an estimate based on your age, s*x and weekly drinking habits.
