This week is Men’s Health Week and an important time to reflect on your health.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men and accounted for almost 30% of male cancer cases in 2023.
Find more info on prostate cancer at the Cancer Institute NSW website:
www.cancer.nsw.gov.au/about-cancer/types-of-cancer/prostate-cancer
More men’s health resources are available here:
www.health.nsw.gov.au/men
Sadly 1 in 5 men in NSW will get prostate cancer by age 85, but having the right information can help.
Many prostate cancers do not cause symptoms in the early stages, but there are some symptoms to look out for:
➡️ Problems passing urine
➡️ Having to pass urine more often
➡️ Not being able to wait to go to the bathroom
➡️ Pain or burning when passing urine
➡️ Blood in the urine or semen
➡️ Pain in the lower back or hips
➡️ Tiredness, shortness of breath, weight loss or dizziness
is a great time to learn more and be proactive about your health. Speak with a GP about any symptoms or concerns.
