It’s back! 🌊 After an incredible first year, Live Well Together Surf Session is returning for 2026.

Last year’s inaugural Surf Session brought our community together for an unforgettable day of adaptive surfing, connection and shared experiences; and after such a wonderful response, we’re excited to do it all again.

Returning to URBNSURF on 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟮 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿, the day will include:
🌊 Adaptive surfing opportunities in a safe and supportive environment
🤝 Time to connect with the SCI community, families and supporters
💬 Shared experiences, stories and encouragement
☀️ A chance to celebrate what’s possible when people come together

Whether you’re getting back on a board, trying adaptive surfing for the first time, or joining to be part of the community, there’s a place for you at Live Well Together Surf Session.

Brought to you by Forward Ability Support and BrightSky Australia in collaboration with Sam Bloom, and proudly supported by Sargood On Collaroy and Royal Rehab Group .

This National Carers Week, we’re recognising the people who provide care and support everyday.💙

Caring for someone can be rewarding with everyday moments of connection. But it can also be physically and emotionally demanding.
Your wellbeing matters too.

Taking time to look after yourself, staying connected with others, and reaching out for support when you need it, can make a huge difference, both for you and the person you care for.

We’ve shared some practical tips in our article "Carer Well-Being: Caring for Yourself While Caring for Others".

Mental wellbeing isn't only how we feel. It does not exist in isolation.

For people living with spinal cord injury, how they feel is often interconnected by different aspects of their daily life. Be it comfort, pain, sleep, confidence, connection, purpose and being able to take part in the things that matter.

At Forward Ability Support, this understanding sits at the heart of how we provide care. Our biopsychosocial approach looks at the whole person recognising that physical, psychological and social wellbeing are connected, and that each can influence the other.
For someone, improving wellbeing may start with finding the right equipment. For someone else, it could be rebuilding confidence, discovering new ways of doing things, reconnecting with others, or working with people who really listen and support what matters to you.

There is rarely one answer, because every person is different. And that's why our care is tailored to every individual's needs.

This Mental Health Month is a reminder that caring for the whole person means looking at the bigger picture.

💬 Which part of your wellbeing could use a little more care right now?
