Sharon had caught up on overdue super payments for her staff, but she was still being chased for a debt that didn't exist.

After months of conflicting advice and money being taken from her account, we asked the ATO to check its records. An error was identified, the debt was removed, and more than $1,500 was returned to Sharon's account.

If you’ve made a complaint to the ATO and it hasn’t been resolved, reach out to us for a free, fair and independent investigation.

What a week we had in Tassie!

✅Thanks to everyone who joined Ruth for Meet the Ombo in Hobart! We were pleased to meet local practitioners, financial counsellors, students and staff from the University of Tasmania Tax Clinic.

✅ CPA Australia and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand hosted events where we heard from local members about some of the pain points they’re experiencing in the tax system.

✅ We also met with the Tasmanian Ombudsman and Deputy Ombudsman to learn more about their remit. Also the President of the Financial Counsellors Association of Tasmania where we heard about the valuable work being done for vulnerable Tasmanians. And several other local practitioners doing great work for the community.

Thanks everyone for having us! Your insights help inform our work and contribute to improving tax and super administration for everyone.
