As we mark Refugee Week and look ahead to World Refugee Day on 20 June, we're pleased to launch new translated health information for refugee communities.
The new flu and measles factsheets are available in English and 20 refugee community languages, providing practical information on symptoms, prevention, vaccination and when to seek medical help.
Announced at the Engaging Effectively with Refugee Communities Forum 2026, these resources aim to make important health information easier to access and understand for refugee communities across NSW.

When you or a loved one is in hospital, it can be a stressful and uncertain time.
You may notice changes that worry you - in how they look, breathe, talk or act.
If you are worried you or your loved oneβs condition is getting worse, you can Raise It at any time.
Raise It is a simple process available in NSW public hospitals and health services to support patients, carers and family members to raise concerns about their own or a loved one's condition getting worse.
If something doesnβt feel right, Raise It. You know yourself or loved one best.

Did you know that young children are especially at risk of mushroom poisoning? This is because they often put things in their mouths β including wild mushrooms in the garden or park.
There is no easy way to tell if a wild mushroom is safe to eat or poisonous.
Keep yourself and your family safe:
- Check your garden and local park for any mushrooms and remove them before children play outside.
- Only eat mushrooms you get from a reliable supermarket, grocer or market.
If you think your child has eaten a poisonous mushroom:
- Call the Poisons Information Centre immediately on 13 11 26 any time β do not wait for symptoms. If you need an interpreter, call TIS on 131 450 and ask to speak to the Poisons Information Centre.
- In an emergency, call Triple Zero (000) for an ambulance or go to your nearest hospital emergency department.

All young people from 2 to 17 years of age in NSW are now eligible for the free nasal spray flu vaccine.
Expanding eligibility aims to boost statewide vaccination rates and make it easier for families - especially those with children who dislike needles.
The nasal spray flu vaccine is gentle, painless and available for free for a limited time at GPs, Aboriginal Medical Services and pharmacies.
Influenza (flu) is serious but isnβt as scary if youβre vaccinated. A flu vaccine offers you and your child the best protection from serious illness.
