A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand at the Sydney Home Show to chat with the team.

Become a registered certifier in NSW. Applying is now faster and easier.

Before you start, get these ready:
✅ Verified identity documents
✅ Evidence of your current employment
✅ Proof you’ve completed the required training
✅ Evidence you meet the knowledge, skills and experience requirements
✅ Evidence you’re eligible to hold insurance

You may need to provide extra documents depending on the certifier registration class you choose. Submit your application through the Building Certifiers’ Portal.

Answer: For all completed jobs, not just new ones.

We’ve heard your questions about when a Certificate of Compliance – Electrical Works (CCEW) is required, so let’s break it down:
🔹 Installing new electrical equipment
🔹 Repairs or alterations
🔹 Adding electrical accessories
🔹 Like-for-like replacements, including hot water systems, ovens and cooktops

Before the work is energised, a safety and compliance test must be completed. Then, submit your CCEW through eCert within 7 days.

Getting the paperwork right protects you, your customer and the safety of the installation.

As prefabrication (prefab) and modular construction grows, how can consumers be confident in the products used to build their homes?

The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) wants to hear from industry, regulators and the broader community about a proposed voluntary certification scheme for modern methods of construction.

The nationally proposed scheme could make it easier for manufacturers to show their products meet building requirements.

For consumers, it could help them feel more confident about the prefab and modular products used to build their homes.
