Camps don’t just happen by magic (although sometimes it feels that way!). There’s a lot of planning behind the scenes, and we’re lucky to have such dedicated volunteers making it all happen! 🏕️ Joey Scout and Cub Scout leaders got together over the weekend to put the finishing touches on our upcoming camp. There was plenty of discussion about how to make it an awesome weekend for our youth!

Meanwhile, Venturer Scouts are also away for the long weekend! 🏕️ Here’s the proof of life update – enjoying Saturday sleep ins. 😄

🌱 What’s this? Soft, green grass for camping?! 😆 Scouts are attending the GWSR Scouts Jamborette - Our World Our Future this long weekend. Scouts are ready to hit the activity bases, put their Patrol skills into action, tackle new challenges, and make new friends.

We are incredibly proud to share Josh, a Wearne Bay Venturer has received his Silver The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award - Australia Award. 🥈 For his community service, Josh has been dedicating his time to assisting at Cubs, setting a fantastic example of leadership to our youth and commitment to giving back to the community. 👏 Well done, Josh!

🗺️ In a world of GPS, phone maps and talking directions, you might be surprised how much Cub Scouts already know about North, South, East and West, reading maps, and following directions. 🧭 Last week, Cubs had a fantastic navigation night, showing off their skills as they learned how to read maps, understand symbols, and use a compass to find their way.

Camp trailer packing: organised masterpiece or giant game of Tetris? 🤔 Every camp, we somehow fit tents, gear, cooking equipment, and a hundred other things into the trailer… eventually! This week was an extra challenge, with Scouts heading off to GWSR Scouts Jamborette and Venturers camping down the coast for the long weekend. That meant splitting the gear between two adventures and making every centimetre of trailer space count!

Joey Scouts from across the South Metropolitan Region came together for the Joey Region Campfire - an evening of songs, jokes, skits, laughter, and campfire fun. A brilliant full moon lit up the night, while a helicopter overhead added an extra touch of excitement! 🔥🚁✨🌕

Congratulations to Charlotte and Georgia on completing their Cub Scout Adventurous Journey. 🛶🗺️ Scouts paddled along the Woronora River headed towards to Deepwater Estate, with some stops along the way to stretch their legs and rest their paddling arms. What an amazing effort and adventure!

Joey Scouts used their creativity and imagination for LEGO Challenge Night! 🧱From wild inventions to colourful creations, everyone had a fantastic time building and problem-solving on some individual and Patrol based challenges!

Being a Scout is all about adventure — and learning how to take risks safely! Fire is important in Scouting, but only when we know how to use it properly. We’re so grateful to our friends at NSW RFS - Illawong, share their knowledge and show us the right way to stay safe.

Cub Scouts are working on their Outdoor Adventure Skills - Bushcraft: how to be safe around fire, with everyone’s favourite treat — marshmallows on a stick over the fire! 🔥🪵🍡
