Take part in BirdLife Australia’s annual Aussie Bird Count until 25th October. Collect a BirdLife Australia activity booklet at Tamworth Library or South Tamworth Library and browse our collection of bird books to get ready for the count!

The Aussie Bird Count is a fun, easy way for all of us to take a national snapshot of the birds around us as we connect with nature. With just 20 minutes, you can help build a picture of how our feathered friends are faring and contribute to something that really counts.

Atlas Clubs are coming to Tamworth Library, with our first session for Term 4 on Wednesday the 21st of October!

Atlas Clubs are an initiative of State Library of NSW to create safe and free online after-school clubs for kids 5 to 15 years old to be inspired and promote creativity! For more information about the Atlas Clubs, please visit the Atlas Club link below.

In the Young Writers Club, they'll be able to create captivating stories along with State Library's own creative writing team.

In the Art Club, they can unleash their creativity as they explore new techniques, learn about the stories behind the art in the Library’s collections, and have fun making art together.

And in the Book Lovers Club, they'll be able to listen and ask questions to Australian authors about their books, spoiler-free so the kids can still enjoy and be amazed!

The Tamworth Death Cafe will be meeting upstairs in the Library Innovation Studio this Saturday 17th October at 2pm for a friendly and informal discussion about death and dying. These casual gatherings aim to increase awareness of death, while helping people make the most of their finite lives.

Join Sally Piper for a 3 hour masterclass in Nature Writing at Tamworth City Library - aimed at adults but also available to aspiring writers ages 15+ Places are limited, so booking is essential!

"Humans are often the only actors in a story, with place and landscapes little more than a stage upon which human activity is performed. This generative three-hour masterclass aims to redress this. The readings, prompts and writing exercises encourage participants to examine their connections to the natural world first through the senses (sight, sound, taste, smell or touch), then move beyond these to the emotional, physical, political and philosophical realm."

As this 3 hour masterclass progresses, participant’s perceptions of these connections shift from a sensorial experience to a felt experience and culminates in imagining nature beyond the human.
