A couple of weekends ago, we took delivery of a new rescue truck, designated TTG 24PR

This appliance brings with it some updated equipment and improves our capacity to respond to complex rescues.

Thank you to Dean and Eli who spent their day with over 20 of our crew helping us get up to speed with the new truck and supplied equipment.

In the early hours of the morning, our team were called to a tree down in Banksia Park. On arrival, crews found a large uprooted tree that had struck two separate houses.

Working alongside crews from the Tea Tree Gully State Emergency Service and South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service crews from Golden Grove and Oakden stations, the teams worked for several hours to remove as much of the tree as was safely possible before returning to our station and leaving the remaining work for a professional arborist to complete during daylight hours.

This call was just another great example of our emergency services working together for the safety of the community.

While many of you were keeping warm and dry at home, our crew responded alongside Hermitage CFS to a reported landslide on North East Road at around 8:30 pm, as the tail end of Sunday’s spectacular storm rolled through.

On arrival, and in trying conditions, crews identified an area of approximately 3–4 square metres of earth that had slipped from the side of Anstey Hill, obstructing the city-bound lane.

After traffic management was established to ensure the safety of emergency crews and passing motorists, the hazard was quickly cleared from the roadway, allowing the lane to be reopened.

This incident was just one of more than 400 calls received by emergency services across South Australia as a result of the severe weather front that impacted the state.

On Monday night, the cadets from across the Para Group, including Virginia Country Fire Service, One Tree Hill Country Fire Service and Tea Tree Gully, had the opportunity to visit the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service at Wakefield St. The visit was made even more special for our young members by the welcome that the Chief and Deputy Chief Officers from the MFS extended to them personally.

During the visit, our cadets were treated to
- A tour of the station - including a demo of the fire pole to get down to the appliances.
- An overview of multiple trucks at the station - including the rescue platform, which some of our leaders were lucky enough to get a ride on.
- A look at the communications centre where your 000 calls for Fire and Rescue are received.
- We were also lucky enough to see first-hand the process a crew goes through for a call to a minor vehicle accident as the truck left the station.

Our sincere thanks to the MFS personnel, in particular the Chief and Deputy Chief, for the warm welcome on a cool evening.

🔥ATTENTION GREENWITH RESIDENTS🔥

Tea Tree Gully CFS will be conducting a live grass fire drill at the Para Valley Council Reserve (Para Valley Drive, Greenwith) tonight from about 7:30 pm (weather/conditions permitting).

Two strips of grassland about 1 hectare each are planned to be lit under controlled circumstances, to allow our crews to practice responding to grass fires. 🚒🚨👩‍🚒

Don’t be alarmed if you see a fire and trucks responding tonight in this area, but please keep clear of the reserve.

The wind forecast is south-westerly and is expected to take the smoke drift away from populated areas.

A permit has been issued by the TTG Council.

Refer to the attached photo for the proposed burn location.
