Thanowring Rural Fire Brigade

07/10/2026

Tonight saw Thanowring combine training with Fire and Rescue in Fire investigating and scene preservation.
Was excellent turn out and we all learnt a lot.
Hopefully we won't see the presenters for awhile but now we know who they are and what we can do to help them.

Sorry about delay with post.
At our AGM this year we were lucky to have numerous people get awards.
Brett Green, Aiden Thomas and Dean Walsh (absent) were giving flood citations.
Also Greg Wood ( in attached photo) was given his 10yr Long Service Medal as hes given 12 yrs to RFS. Bruce Lack (absent) also was given his Long service Medal for 20 & 30 years of service to RFS.
It is always great to see our member recieve awards and medals as they are amazing and were glad there part of our Brigade.

Its with heavy heart that we let everyone know that one of our fellow RFS members has passed.
Buster Clarke was definately a down to earth guy that said things exactly how he thought. He always had a great yarn and will be greatly missed.
We send our condolences to Marion and Family.

Didnt get many photos today but thanowring members Dylan, Lee, Aiden and Kelly helped with HR burn at Lake Cowal.
We also had Mitigation members, Ungarie Brigade , Drone operator Nathan, Group Officer Trevor and support members Rob & Bree.
Cameron did a great job of organising and lots was learnt and fun for all of us to catch up
Didnt quite get whole thing done but hopefully we'll get to do again.
Huge thank you also to Evolution members that also were involved.
Was awesome to see some of Lake Cowal Mine from outside as I had never been out that way but I will say the road was very bouncy.
