📣 On Thursday 21 May the Commission will hold a ceremonial closing hearing to mark the end of its Inquiry into Queensland's Child Safety System before handing down its final report on Friday 22 May. The closing hearing will give the Commissioner and Senior Counsel Assisting an opportunity to provide an overview of how the Commission conducted its work, including key themes and the direction of the final report. The ceremonial hearing will not hear any new evidence from witnesses or discuss the Commissioner's findings and recommendations.
The ceremonial closing hearing will be livestreamed.

The Commission has been undertaking a deep analysis of the residential care model over the past few months. Next week, it will hold its final hearing block in Brisbane between Tuesday 7 April and Friday 17 April. The public hearing will hear evidence about matters relating to the costs of residential care for children and young people in State care to understand the practical and financial challenges impacting the residential care model.
