INTRODUCING OUR NEXT BOOK
'The Will to Change: Men, Masculinity and Love' by Bell Hooks was published in 2004 and criticises how society encourages boys to become patriarchal men and outlines an alternate path to feminist masculinity. This book is under 200 pages and is free to read on Internet Archive. It is also available on Audible. See you on the 1st of September!

First meeting!
Thanks so much to everyone who attended today. We had an amazing time eating lunch and baked goods while discussing Puberty Blues. We were even lucky enough to have some attendees from Sydney who were able to discuss their high school experience and how it related to the experience of the authors' over 50 years ago.
Attached are some recommended readings/things to watch if you enjoyed this book ☺️.

Hi everyone! In conjunction with The Women’s Collective, I have established an on-campus book club that aims to explore a diverse range of gender issues. Meetings will be every second Friday starting week 4 from 12-1 pm in the Central Plaza for a picnic lunch style discussion of the books and the topics they address. Each fortnight will represent a specific theme so if reading a book a fortnight seems like a lot, you can simply choose which theme interests you and attend that week. We will also be hosting movie nights that correlate certain books BEFORE the meetings so you can just watch the movie and still participate in the discussion. We are hope to have some guest speakers at our sessions. The book club is open to everyone regardless of gender or what course you study and we hope to see some diversity to broaden perspectives within the discussions. None of the books are more than 300 pages and you can access them for free as shown below. So, if you love books, gender issues, or even just having a fat chat over food, come along!
