From 1st July, existing Long Tan Memorial Pool and Kokoda Memorial Pool pass holders can transfer to a new MyCityPass.

Offered as part of the connected Aquatic Network, a this Citywide Pass, gives you access to all Townsville aquatic centres.

Simply visit the Long Tan Memorial Pool or Kokoda Memorial Pool this week, bring along your current pass and proof of purchase, and our CVM team will set you up with a new access card.

Well... Long Tan Swimming Pool is getting its wall back to keep more swimmers IN the pool for training! 😄🏊

To allow for the safe reinstallation of the 50m pool dividing wall, there will be some temporary closures:

We appreciate everyone's patience while this important upgrade is completed. Once the dividing wall is back in place, we'll once again be able to maximise pool availability, accommodate more swimmers, and provide greater flexibility for training and community use.

🏊 LONG TAN POOL UPDATE 🏊

As many of you are aware, Long Tan Pool will be closed from 29–30 June while Townsville City Council and the former operator complete the handover process to the new lease holders, Rackley Swimming.

We know this short closure means many of you will miss out on your favourite pastime, but we're excited for what's ahead! The Rackley Swimming team will be open for business from 1 July 2026 and is eager to build on the fantastic swimming community we already have, while further enhancing our region's love affair with the sport of swimming.

A little patience now will help pave the way for an exciting new chapter at Long Tan Pool. We wish the Rackley team every success as they settle in and look forward to seeing the pool buzzing with swimmers once again.

Our team is on-site this afternoon and will continue this evening, putting the finishing touches in place to ensure everything is ready for opening tomorrow.

We can’t wait to welcome you through our doors. Come down, say hello, and meet the team! You might see some familiar faces from Tobruk and Northern Beaches, along with our new local team members who are excited to become part of your aquatic community.

🏊 Meet the Coach Leading the Next Chapter at Gardens Swimming Club! 💙

With decades of coaching experience and a lifelong connection to Townsville, Luc Senent is proud to be back where it all began as Head Coach of Gardens Swimming Club at Rackley Swimming Long Tan, based at Long Tan Memorial Pool.

Luc first stepped onto pool deck as a coach at Long Tan Memorial Pool before returning from Perth in 1988 to help build one of Townsville's most successful swimming programs. Over the years, he transformed the Townsville Tourist Swimming Club from just six swimmers into a nationally recognised program, guiding countless athletes to state and national success in both pool and open water swimming.

Now, Luc is bringing that same passion, knowledge and commitment back to Gardens Swimming Club. Whether your goal is to race at the highest level, improve your technique or simply enjoy being part of a supportive team, Luc is dedicated to helping every swimmer reach their potential in a positive and encouraging environment.

As Luc says, "I'm excited by this new chapter in my life and look forward to getting Gardens Swimming Club back into the winner's circle and to seeing the smiles on the swimmers' faces."
