🌬The Science of Breathing Air Quality🌬
Most people take breathing air for granted — if it feels clean, it must be clean, right? Unfortunately, that’s not always true.
Compressed air used in breathing apparatus or air-line systems can easily become contaminated by oil mist, carbon monoxide, or moisture. These contaminants are invisible but can have serious health effects over time.
That’s why the Australian standards require regular air-quality testing. The testing process checks oxygen levels, carbon dioxide, oil content, water vapour, and more — confirming that what’s entering your mask is genuinely safe to breathe.
Understanding air quality isn’t about compliance — it’s about confidence. When your team knows their breathing air meets the right standards, they can focus on the job, not the risk.

🚧How Temperature and Humidity Affect Gas Detectors🚧
Gas detectors are built tough — but they’re still sensitive instruments that rely on chemistry and precision. What many users don’t realise is how much temperature and humidity can affect readings.
High humidity can cause sensors to drift or even saturate. Extreme heat accelerates chemical reactions inside the sensor, shortening its lifespan. On the flip side, cold conditions can slow sensor response times and affect calibration stability.
The best defence? Regular bump testing and calibration in conditions similar to where the detector will be used. Storing your instruments correctly and servicing them routinely also helps reduce environmental stress.
Environmental awareness keeps your readings accurate — and accuracy saves lives.
