🔥 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱 – 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗕𝗮𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝘇𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗻 🔥

Council is currently engaged in hazard reduction burns throughout the city to mitigate the risk of bushfires during the dry season.

📅 The upcoming hazard reduction burn will commence 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱, 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗕𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟵 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, with contingency dates of 10 June and/or 11 June 2026. Works are expected to last approximately two days.

🚫 Please be advised due to the nature of these operations, 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘀, 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 within the hazard reduction burn-controlled zone.

💡 We’re showcasing 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻-𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 (𝗣-𝗖𝗘𝗣) resources – designed to help people living with disability, older residents, carers and support networks plan for emergencies in a way that works for them.

Fire Danger Ratings show how dangerous a bushfire would be if one started in your area today. They help you understand the level of risk and what actions you may need to take to stay safe.

The 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 (𝗔𝗙𝗗𝗥𝗦) is used nationwide, so the warning levels are the same wherever you are in Australia.

If your home was impacted by one of the following disasters, you may be eligible for a grant up to $10,000 to make your home more resilient.
💧North and Far North Queensland floods (January-February 2025)
💧Western Queensland floods (March-May 2025)
💧Queensland floods, Cyclones Koji and Narelle (December 2025-April 2026)

Stronger Homes Grants can support critical works such as:
⚡Raising essential services like switchboards and air-conditioning
🔨Replacing floor coverings and plasterboard wall linings
🖌️Painting stud work to prevent future mould

Warning area: Rassmussen and surrounding areas



Smoke is currently affecting Rassmussen and surrounding areas. This is from a fire burning on S Beck Drive.



What you should do:

- Stay inside and close windows and doors.

- Keep respiratory medication close by.

- Follow your bushfire survival plan now. If you do not have a bushfire survival plan, make one on the QFD website.

- Avoid driving through smoke if you can.

- Watch out for firefighters working in the area.

- Do not fly drones around the fire. Drones affect air operations.



Impacts:

- No properties are at risk.

- Smoke can make it hard for some people to breathe.

- Smoke can make it hard to see when you are driving.

- Some roads may be closed.
