On Friday the 14th of October members past and present of 2 RAR (A) paused to commemorate the service and sacrifice of 2 RAR soldiers within Afghanistan. Lest we forget.
The 2nd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (2 RAR) is the only amphibious infantry battalion of the Australian Army.
The 2nd Battalion (Amphibious), The Royal Australian Regiment (2 RAR (Amphib)) was first formed as the Australian 66th Battalion in 1945. It has seen active service during the Korean War, Malayan Emergency, the Vietnam War, Rwanda, East Timor, the Solomon Islands, Iraq and Afghanistan. Sappers from the 3rd Combat Engineer Regiment (3rd Brigade - Australian Army)as part of the 2RAR led Multi-National Landing Force (MNLF), have been training alongside soldiers of the 95th Engineer Company, United States Army, as part of RIMPAC 2022.

Members of Joint Pre-Landing Force Alpha (JPLF-A) have been refining their technical expertise whilst on RIMPAC 2022. This has seen patrols conduct littoral reconnaissance, landing site preparation, and battle field shaping operations in support of the Multi-National Landing Force (MNLF).

Yesterday members of 2RAR (A) paused to to commemorate the 69th anniversary of the Battle of the Hook, also known as the Battle of Samichon. Services were conducted within Australia, the Solomon Islands, and Marine Corps Base Hawaii. Marines of the 7th Marine Regiment participated within the service, signifying the reunion of both Units who fought alongside one another during the battle.

Joint Fires Teams from 2RAR (A) and 4 REGT (3rd Brigade - Australian Army) have been busy this week calling in live ordinance from fixed wing, rotary wing, and surface fires platforms at Pohakuloa Training Area.
