10 FSB Hit the Surf🌊

Members from the 10th Force Support Battalion - Australian Army conducted advanced watercraft training with Lighter Amphibious Resupply Cargo 5 tonne (LARC V) and F470 Zodiacs at Rainbow Beach, Queensland.

Exercise Surfing Penguin allows soldiers to train in rough surf conditions to prepare them to respond to high risk weather events to support domestic and international operations.

Beyond the critical training outcomes, Exercise Surfing Penguin also provides an important opportunity to demonstrate the Australian Army’s littoral manoeuvre capabilities.

The soldiers also reinforced their surf drills, in which the crew practiced how to quickly rescue and recover from the water, and rehearsed paired LARC V recovery from the sea back to land through the surf zone.

During the recent NQLD Warfighter, 10 FST deployed to the Lucinda area and established a position within a sugar shed “hiding in plain sight” where concealment was of the highest priority.

The FST was made up of members from 10 FSB and 9 FSB, the FST primarily pushed various classes of supply and distributed them via DP with 3 CSSB approx. 150km to the south. Over 380T of freight on 48 TEU moved from Townsville to Lucinda and then into the training area, driving in-excess of 25,000km.

Outstanding work!

Soldiers from 42 and 43 Amphibious Troop, 35 Water Transport Squadron, recently conducted a transit to Magnetic Island.

After arriving at Alma Bay, the troops engaged with the local community—demonstrating not just technical proficiency, but also the importance of engaging with the local communities that support them.
