Traralgon Fire Brigade - CFA Volunteers

It was an early start for our volunteer firefighters this morning with the pager sounding at 2:30am to support Fire Rescue Victoria at reports of a car fire spreading to trees in Traralgon. Crews knocked down the fire and were on scene for about an hour.

When returning to the station our crews were tasked to go on to support neighbouring CFA and FRV brigades at a structure fire in Maryvale. Crews assisted with thermal imaging camera operations before eventually returning home to start their days at twenty past five. All in a days work for our volunteers.

🚒 Joint Training with Traralgon West Fire Brigade

Last night, we hosted a joint training session with Traralgon West Fire Brigade, focusing on critical pre-summer preparedness drills, including drafting, hose work and entrapment drills.

The session provided a valuable opportunity for members to familiarise themselves with neighbouring appliances, building confidence when cross-crewing in the field. It was also a great chance for members of both brigades to strengthen relationships, improve teamwork and ensure we can work seamlessly together when responding to incidents.

A big thanks to Traralgon West for joining us for a great night of training!

🔥 Getting ready for the season ahead 🔥

Today 7 members of our brigade participated in the District 27 combined groups exercise.

A great day had with crews sharpening their skills with multiple scenarios including grassfire attack and asset protection.

We are getting ready for the fire season, so should you! Make sure to visit us next Saturday (17th) at Traralgon Centre Plaza between 9am and 3pm to learn all things bushfire preparedness.

Fantastic news this week with our Eastern neighbours bringing online their new Ultra Heavy CAFS appliance. A fantastic resource for the area and wider CFA.
Traralgon East Fire Brigade

🚒🚒🚒We have some exciting news!!! 🚒🚒🚒

You may have seen this appliance getting around Traralgon for a while now, we’ve been training and learning.

And we are happy to announce that Traralgon East Tanker 2 is now officially operational!

While at this time we will focus on using this as a tanker that carries 8000l of water in the near future it will be able to operate it’s Compressed Air Foam System or CAFS for short but more to come on that in the future!

In the interim we are proud to have this appliance in our fleet and service the community.

🕑 Clocks will move forward one hour at 2 am to kick off daylight saving time.

We know most devices automatically adjust but some clocks, like those in your kitchen appliances, wall clocks, or car, may need to be manually changed.

While you're at it, be sure to check your smoke alarm batteries. To do this, press and hold the test button until the smoke alarm beeps three times.

If your alarm doesn’t beep three times, it needs new batteries or replacement.

Members downed tools for Tuesday training last night for our traditional 5th Tuesday of the month social night.

Social nights are an integral part of team building for our members.

🚒 Truck Tuesdays 🚒

Over the next few months we will be showcasing our 4 appliances at Traralgon via our Facebook and Instagram. Moving on to our second post, Traralgon BA Support 🔥

Traralgon BA Support is a breathing apparatus support appliance based on a 2024 4x4 Ford Ranger chassis.

Seating a crew of 2 our BA Support holds 24 breathing apparatus cylinders, 4 breathing apparatus sets and lots of other equipment to support breathing apparatus operations.

Being a support appliance, our BA Support responds to generally larger scale incidents (such as house fires, factory fires, HAZMAT incidents, etc) supporting Fire Rescue Victoria and our neighbouring CFA (Country Fire Authority) brigades. This is a ‘specialist’ appliance meaning Traralgon covers CFA districts 27 and 10 for BA Support requests.

Some key features/equipment:
- x24 breathing apparatus cylinders each containing 300 bar of compressed air.
- x4 sets of breathing apparatus 🤿.
- 140L water tank with electric pump.
- BA washing equipment 🧼.
- BA staging area tarps.
- Large BA control board.
- Rehab chairs 🪑.
- Portable Tables.
- Fire extinguisher 🧯.
- Portable lighting tower. 💡
- First aid kit and defibrillator ⛑️.
- And much more!
