Free firewood on offer for Old Bar locals

Old Bar residents are invited to collect free firewood and learn valuable chainsaw safety skills at a two-day event in Kiwarrak State Forest.

Forestry Corporation staff will combine their annual chainsaw refresher training with a community event on Thursday, July 30 and Friday, July 31 designed to help locals prepare for the colder months.

Firewood made available to the public has been sourced from timber left following plantation thinning in Kiwarrak State Forest.

The plantation was heavily impacted in the 2019-20 Black Summer bushfires and the thinning operation has removed dead and fire damaged trees, improving forest health, reducing fuel loads and maintaining safe access for recreational users.

Members of the public are welcome to cut and collect a ute or trailer load of firewood free of charge and Forestry staff will be on hand to help pensioners, who need assistance loading firewood.

Thursday 30 July and Friday 31 July from 8am to 3pm daily.
Kiwarrak State Forest, 201-225 Saltwater Road, approximately 500 metres past Forest Lane. https://maps.app.goo.gl/8TdbprayZgA6NEa28?g_st=i&utm_campaign=ac-im

It’s a sad day for Old Bar. We thank you for your great service, charitable contributions and the absolutely wonderful food you’ve served us from day one.

Dear all,

Mon and I have some news we would like to share with you.

With heavy hearts, we have decided to CLOSE Sai Thai Table and Tea.

Sai has always felt like our daughter—born here, raised here, and grown together with all of you in Old Bar over the past 13 years. Now, as she steps into her 14th year, we feel it is time for her to move into the next chapter of her life. It may feel a little early to let her go, but quietly, in our hearts, we know her time has come to grow in her own way.

Our journey beyond Old Bar, including my time in New Zealand, has taught us so much. Through those experiences, and with great humility, we believe this is the right moment to make this decision, even though it is not an easy one.

We will be passing on the shop, including the newly installed kitchen equipment and Phase 3 electricity, ready for further upgrades. This also includes all of our exclusive 100% natural wood ash glazed - hand-thrown plates and bowls, and everything within the space—though NOT the business itself. We are more than willing to provide training and ongoing advice to support long-term success, both financially and in achieving recognition.

**Only those who are truly ready and genuinely interested in building a great opportunity in this space, please speak with me in person or email me at [email protected].***

Before we say goodbye, we will come together to celebrate one last special moment— our final Anniversary Charity Night. It will be held sometime soon once the date is confirmed, and we would truly love to share that evening with all of you. Please stay tuned for the date.

As spring approaches, it brings with it a beautiful opportunity to begin something new in one of the best locations in town. With summer being the busiest season—when income can more than double—this is truly a valuable moment not to miss.

While it is difficult to say goodbye, we know our next chapter is waiting ahead, and we will move forward with hope.

Warm regards,
Sasi
